There are plenty of top games to explore in the modern environment. Role-playing titles are just some of them, with gamers relishing the opportunity to be transported to an imaginary world filled with endless opportunities. Some games in this category also contain a fantasy or science fiction element, something which appeals to so many gamers.

In today’s world, gaming communities are inundated with impressive role-playing products that can take them on numerous adventures. However, given the overall saturation that has occurred in the gaming sphere, there are also some releases that are worth avoiding. Thankfully, one look at various forums and the abundance of reviews out there highlights the releases worth dedicating some time and attention to. For example, people are opting to download games on mobile and PC that offer a strong role-playing experience, while there are also a range of other notable releases on other prominent console gaming platforms, such as the PlayStation 5.

These options offer an unforgettable world to explore and a variety of quests to complete, but they also contain some brilliant characters who have helped make the games so memorable. So, without further ado, below is a look at a few characters who have helped shape some excellent role-playing games.

Cloud Strife - Final Fantasy VII

The protagonist in Final Fantasy VII, Cloud Strife is a character fans will always remember fondly. His distinctive spiky blonde hair and his journey to becoming a hero make him a character that is hard not to like. Throw in Cloud Strife’s clear desire to save the world, and it’s almost impossible not to be captivated by his journey throughout the game. As far as iconic RPGs go, Final Fantasy VII is right up there, and Cloud Strife’s engaging personality most certainly helped shape it.

Morrigan - Dragon Age

With the emergence of more dominant females in the gaming landscape, gaming communities have been captivated by some iconic female faces in recent times. Morrigan is certainly one of them, with Dragon Age’s complex character playing an integral role in the hit game. While Morrigan does have an ugly side that many gamers didn’t take to, it’s impossible to deny her impact in what is a much-loved title. With her own goals and her own motivations, this lone wolf is a fairly unique personality in a genre of gaming that tends to contain teamwork and unity. While she does bug gamers on occasion and has her various annoyances, Dragon Age definitely wouldn’t be the same without her.

Geralt - The Witcher

If you’ve ever played The Witcher before, then you’ll almost certainly remember Geralt. An incredibly powerful personality who is capable of taking down formidable beasts, his unique skillset makes him impossible to ignore. While his alarmingly weak ankles are fairly comical throughout, Geralt also has numerous powers that enable him to reign supreme in any encounter. From powerful magic to his devastating dual swords, this deadly Witcher’s white-haired appearance sends fear into any victim he’s about to see off. Also offering deadpan humour and showcasing his way with the opposite sex on numerous occasions, Geralt is easily one of the best characters from the role-playing genre.
